Cafe Manhattan is a bar and kitchen in the heart of De Waterkant, serving burgers, pizza, steak, seafood and other light meals alongside a full drinks list. By its own description, the venue also runs drag shows, DJ sets and long lunches, giving it a nightlife side that goes beyond a typical restaurant.
The venue describes itself as LGBTQI+ owned and operated, and says it was the first bar and kitchen of its kind in Africa when it opened its doors in 1994. It trades daily from late morning into the night from 74 Waterkant Street in De Waterkant, and suits anyone after a casual meal, a long lunch, or a night out at one of Cape Town's best-known LGBTQI+ venues.
