Ndwamba Market

Ndwamba Market is Nyanga East's first supermarket, upgraded through a spaza shop modernisation programme run in partnership between Pick n Pay, the Old Mutual Foundation, the Masisizane Fund, Brimstone, the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, and the City of Cape Town. What began as a small family spaza shop now has modern, top-of-the-range scanners at the till points and aisles fully stocked with everything from boerewors to baking powder.

The store serves hundreds of shoppers who walk its aisles each day, a marked change from its earlier, more basic set-up. It is one of two Western Cape stores upgraded under the same partnership programme.

It suits Nyanga East residents who want a well-stocked, modernised local supermarket rather than a small informal shop.
