Sidewalk Cafe in Vredehoek is a long-standing neighbourhood restaurant run by the Madame Zingara group, known for its cosy, hodge-podge country kitchen décor. A Cape Town Etc review found the restaurant unchanged after years away, with the same carefully considered menu and the same relaxed, homely atmosphere.

The menu includes fresh juices made to order, and the signature chicken, prawn and pea risotto, alongside a changing fish of the day and other mains such as fillet steak. Other dishes on the table in the review included spinach and ricotta parcels and a vegetarian penne, with cheesecake among the desserts on offer.

The restaurant is on Derry Street in Vredehoek, and suits a relaxed dinner built around comfort food and familiar flavours done well.
