Somerset West Private School began from extra mathematics tuition offered by its principal, with demand for the classes leading to the school's opening in 1998. It is based in the heart of Somerset West and offers classes from Grade 8 through to Post Matric level.
The Post Matric group is made up of learners wanting to improve their Grade 12 results, many of whom are referred to the school by Stellenbosch University or the University of Cape Town after not meeting the minimum Mathematics and Science requirements for certain degrees, and the course runs for one year.
