Tafelsig Clinic

Tafelsig Clinic is a public primary healthcare facility serving the Tafelsig area of Mitchells Plain, historically run as part of the City of Cape Town's City Health service. The clinic opened in 1994 and in 2008 became the first City-run facility to use the Matrix treatment model for outpatient substance-abuse treatment, a programme that has shaped much of its community health work since.

In February 2026 the City announced a R10.5 million upgrade of the clinic, adding a first-floor extension, a lift and new staircases along with ground-floor improvements, with construction expected to run through October 2026.

The clinic serves residents of Tafelsig and the surrounding Mitchells Plain community, providing primary healthcare and substance-abuse outpatient services close to home.
