Le Bistrot De JAN is a French bistro at the InterContinental Table Bay in the V&A Waterfront, created by South African chef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen as an ode to the classic French bistro. Dark-blue awnings, cafe tables outside and a midnight-blue interior lit by cascading beaded chandeliers give the space a cosy, elegant feel that is unpretentious but beautiful.
The kitchen is led by chef Giles Edwards, who channels the simple, fresh style of French bistro cooking he and Jan-Hendrik experienced on a trip to Nice. The Cape Town restaurant follows the opening of Le Bistrot De JAN in Nice in 2024, itself a more relaxed sibling of Jan-Hendrik's Michelin-starred Restaurant JAN.
It suits diners who want a taste of the French Riviera, with simple, unfussy cooking, in the heart of the V&A Waterfront.
